What do you need to brew coffee with a Moka Pot?
To brew coffee with a Moka pot you are going to need the following items:
- Finely Ground Coffee
- Moka Pot
- Pouring Kettle
- Timer
- Scales
Step by step Moka Pot brew guide:
- Grind about 20 grams of coffee (enough to fill the filter basket), as finely as you would for an espresso.
- Boil your kettle and fill the bottom half of your Moka Pot with the water, fresh off the boil.
- Fill the filter basket of your Moka Pot with the ground coffee and give it a shake to settle the grounds evenly.
- Place the filter basket into the bottom compartment. Be careful as the bottom compartment will be hot!
- Screw on the Moka Pot’s lid and place it onto a stove at a medium heat leaving the lid open. When the water in the bottom compartment starts to boil, the pressure will push a stream of coffee through to the upper section.
- If it explodes upwards, your water is too hot, if it gurgles slowly it's not hot enough.
- As soon as the coffee stops bubbling out, pour the coffee into your cups and serve.
